Claremont Distillery Tracks Rails Single Malt Whiskey 750ml Bottle

Tonight’s dram takes me (virtually) to the garden state, New Jersey, to the Claremont distillery for their locally grown barley single malt. I was not able to find a single review or tasting note – not on their website, not even on the bottle, but I went ahead and took a shot. It opens with dark chocolate, cherries, and orange zest, followed by brown sugar, toasted oak, and a bit of cinnamon, then dark molasses and cracked black pepper corns. The thick clingy legs and creamy mouthfeel deliver a nice long, well-balanced chocolaty, orange zesty, brown sugary, cinnamony, black-peppery finish. With that, New Jersey becomes the 20th state from which I’ve tried a single malt barley dram. This one is a keeper! Drink slow, drink long, drink a variety, drink often.
