Single Barrel Straight Rye Whiskey 750ml
A single barrel expression of the four year bourbon in toasted and charred new oak barrels. High-rye, full-bodied whiskey offering savory and spicy character. Flavors of vanilla, butterscotch, oak, and spice. Each barrel offers a slightly different flavor profile. New Riff Single Barrel Bourbon is made with the same mash bill as the brand's standard bourbon release: 65% corn, 30% rye, and 5% malted barley. These single barrel releases are selected by retailers or on-premise locations. Each single barrel bottling is aged for 4 years in 53-gallon new, charred American oak barrels. Additionally, they are bottled at barrel proof without chill-filtration so expect to see variances in both flavor and proof with each barrel.

About the brand
We are a new riff on an old tradition, that tradition or theme being Kentucky Bourbon. Founded in 2014 by Ken Lewis, a visionary Kentucky liquor retailer and entrepreneur, New Riff is led by a team of corporate refugees ranging from craft beer to politics and more. New Riff crafts a range of whiskeys—Bourbon, Rye, and eventually Malted Rye and a host of specialty recipes—as well as Kentucky Wild Gin. Our mission is simple: to someday be counted among the world’s great small distilleries. Becoming one of the great small distilleries of the world is a long term play, with no exact ring to win, or title to be declared. We are independently owned by one family, and that independence, the freedom from outside pressures and interests has allowed us to make an unforeseen declaration for quality: for perhaps the first time since the inception of the Bottled in Bond Act in 1897, a Kentucky sour mash whiskey distillery has committed itself exclusively to that quality standard, the world’s highest. And we proudly lift that bar even higher by bottling without chill filtration. We stand behind this combination of classic American entrepreneurship and ingenuity; passion and knowledge born from one of the world’s great spirit regions; and a talented team individually committed to doing things the right way. We are inspired by the great Bourbon makers of the past and the wider tradition in Kentucky—but we will play our own riff, on the Sour Mash Kentucky Regimen, both with our standard of Bottled in Bond Without Chill Filtration, and through applying that production regimen to wholly new styles of Kentucky whiskey. Yet we also observe the tremendous whiskey history of Greater Cincinnati, and we inhale that rye-rich backstory as well. At the end of the day, despite playing a free hand to improvise and create Kentucky whiskey anew, we uphold above all else the time-honored Sour Mash Kentucky Regimen: we believe it’s a fantastic way to make whiskey, fully the equal of the traditions of the world’s great whiskeys.

I've had around 6 of the new riff single barrel rye's and they're all unimaginable extraordinary and madly great. So they're all Extremely unique yet hello lets do this. No genuine notes on this one or even a note that it was a pick" which is odd (marking). I purchased this from a store that Wants to gloat about store picks as well. In any case to the whisky. Nose - Cherry hack drops gigantic caramel goodness a pinch of red caramel apples and route in the back there's a trace of rye zest. Taste - Red hots oak goodness a tremendous measure of rye zest possibly a green apple. Water being included emits somewhat of a waxy note which I once in a while get in a whiskey or rye. The apple notes are more red now and the red hots are gone. Dazzling mouth feel extremely mind boggling I know it's 4 years of age and this isn't one of the better new Riff single Barrel Rye's nevertheless I'm fan boying on this one as well. I'm not a rye fellow but rather they're accomplishing something exceptional here. I'm going 2.75 on this one. 3.0 for me truly is an exceptional score and I need to maintain a strategic distance from over utilizing it. I've had a couple of these that are simple 3.5's nevertheless this one isn't that for me. I'm discussing a 3.0 and it's so close yet I thought I'd go somewhat traditionalist. On the off chance that you like rye you'll like this one and I question the cost is going to push you off. That said each new riff is SO unique I've never had a brand with such huge numbers of contrasts barrel to barrel. I'm not a fan kid of their normal rye (can't remember whether I looked into it) yet the single barrels simply appear to be a hit after a hit with a couple being heavenly."

111.6 evidence. With a scramble of water would be an ideal sazerac rye. Incredible flavor profile and venture up from the customary rye.
