Charles Nelson was born on July 4, 1835 in a small town in the Mecklenburg-Schwerin state of northern Germany. In 1850, his father decided to move the family, which included five other siblings, to the United States for a chance at a better life. During the journey across the Atlantic, John Nelson passed away and Charles — just 15 years old at the time — found himself the breadwinner of the family.
Belle Meade Bourbon Cask Strength Reserve is a premium full strength whiskey. These are the barrels of bourbon that taste good enough to be a Single Barrel but don't have a high enough proof to be a Single Barrel. They batch these reserve barrels with others barrels in their inventory to raise the proof while enhancing the flavors of said reserve barrels. When blended together, these barrels of well-aged bourbon create a product that is greater than the sum of its individual parts.
